About Company
Tokotype is a type foundry & design studio based in Indonesia. We work closely with clients and partners to create impactful typographic identities, and we are seeking roles to ensure the smooth operation of our studio.
Our work spans retail font families available through tokotype.com, bespoke typefaces developed for brand identity systems, and custom modifications for existing type assets. Every project that leaves the studio is built to perform across print, screen, and brand applications at professional standard.
We are a small, focused team. The quality of our output reflects the care each person brings to their discipline.
Project Manager
Type: Full-time
Reports to: Foundry Director
About the Role
Tokotype is looking for a Project Manager to join the studio. This is a hands-on operational role for someone who understands how a design studio runs from project scoping and timeline management to client coordination and internal workflow oversight. You will be the connective person between the creative team and the clients we serve
Job Description
• Manage end-to-end project delivery across retail font production, custom typeface commissions, and studio client projects, from kickoff to final delivery
•Build and maintain project timelines, milestones, and task assignments in coordination with the design team
•Own internal workflow: track project status, flag bottlenecks, and keep the studio operating on schedule
•Serve as a semi-Account Executive for select clients — managing briefs, handling communication, setting expectations, and ensuring delivery quality meets scope
•Coordinate feedback rounds and approval cycles between clients and the design team
• Maintain project documentation, including SOWs, delivery checklists, and revision logs
• Support the Ops Manager with vendor coordination, invoicing timelines, and project budgeting.
• Identify process gaps and propose workflow improvements as the studio scales
Qualifications
• Minimum 3 years of project management experience in a design studio, creative agency, or related creative environment
• Demonstrated understanding of design studio operations: how projects are scoped, staged, and handed off
• Strong written and verbal communication in both Bahasa Indonesia and English
• Comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects without losing detail
• Client-facing experience — able to manage briefs, present updates, and navigate feedback professionally
• Proficient with project management tools (Trello, Notion, Asana, or equivalent)
• Familiarity with font licensing, type production workflows, or type foundry operations is a significant advantage
• Able to work independently and make judgment calls without constant escalation

• Participate in design reviews, refinement rounds, and technical QA across active projects
• Maintain font source files and production documentation in line with studio workflow standards

• Proficiency in Glyphs App as the primary type design tool
• Solid understanding of spacing, optical correction, and interpolation across a type family
• Experience with variable font design and mastering is a significant advantage
• Understanding of Latin script at a minimum; additional script knowledge (Arabic, Javanese, or other Indonesian regional scripts) is a plus
